Not satisfied with Hunter and Prey and Cat and Canary, the studio wanted a genuine Cat and Mouse team to capitalize on. Speedy got the role opposite Sylvester and had instant success. He relies on his super speed to out maneuver Sylvester at every turn. In recent years, Speedy's appearances were banned due to concern for the offensiveness his persona might have on Latin Americans, but Latin American's challenged the powers that be stating that they consider him a hero. They find him to be a fun and positive depiction of Mexicans. He's altruistic, selfless, doesn't drink, friendly to strangers, kind and helpful.
